Bayern Munich had a torrid end to the season on the injury front. They lost several key players to serious injuries, which affected their bid to go all the way in the Champions League. The defensive department at Bayern has been severely impacted by injuries since March.

Alphonso Davies was one of the key defenders for Bayern who was ruled out for the season with a serious knee injury. The 24-year-old left-back suffered an injury while playing for Canada during the last international break of the season. Since the knee injury was so serious, Davies had to undergo surgery to repair the damage.

Davies will miss the majority of the first half of the next season. While talking to Bild this week, Davies admitted that his recovery is going well, and he hopes to return to the grass sooner rather than later. However, the Canadian insisted that there is still a long way to go in the recovery as he eyes a return to action in November.

The 25-year-old defender was in the middle of a terrific season for Bayern. After enduring a dip in form last season, Davies has got back to his best under Vincent Kompany. He was one of the first names on the team sheet under the Belgian coach this campaign.

Bayern also recognized the improvement in the performances of Davies and put in a big effort to extend his contract earlier this year. They managed to fend off strong interest from Real Madrid to secure the long-term future of the Canadian full-back.

Bayern have no plans to sign a left-back this summer

Despite long-term injuries to Davies and Hiroki Ito, Bayern have no plans to sign a left-back this summer. They are also ready to listen to offers for Raphael Guerreiro, which suggests Josip Stanisic will play regularly in the left-back position at the start of next season.

Adam Aznou had a good loan spell at Real Valladolid. The Moroccan left-back is rated highly at Bayern. He is expected to be part of the first team next season. With several options at the disposal, Bayern do not need to spend on a new left-back this summer.

Davies was spotted at Allianz Arena on Saturday to watch the Champions League final clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan. The Canadian insisted that Bayern should have made it to the final on the home turf. The Bavarian faithful will hope Davies makes a strong return and help Die Roten to reach the final next season.
