It was yet another productive weekend for Harry Kane as he scored a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt. Kane has scored 28 goals for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season. With 11 games to go, the English forward needs 14 goals to beat Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season.
Kane has been exceptional for Die Roten this season. He has played in a slightly deeper role in some games. Without compromising his output in the final third, Kane has excelled in this position. The Englishman has worked hard out of possession and showed his exceptional passing range when he wins the ball in deeper positions.
The 32-year-old has less than 18 months left on his contract at Bayern, which will certainly attract the attention of all big clubs in Europe.
FC Barcelona are expected to be in the market for a striker since Lewandowski’s contract expires at the end of the season. Xavier Vilajoana, one of the candidates for presidency at FC Barcelona, has expressed interest in signing Kane from Bayern should he win the election. Vilajoana recently admitted that he has already touched base with Kane for a potential transfer in the summer.
Xavier Vilajoana, candidate for FC Barcelona's presidency, has told @espn that he made contact with Harry Kane should he win the election next month: "What we're missing is a striker (..) There is one. In fact, we've already made some contact, and I think he's a player who would… pic.twitter.com/4X8FHme1or

Kane has taken no time to rebuff these claims. While talking to Sky Sports in Germany after the win against Frankfurt on Saturday (via iMiaSanMia), Kane insisted that there have been no talks with Barcelona and reiterated his desire to stay in Munich.
"I haven't heard anything about that. My father and brother are taking care of these things, but they haven't told me anything. As I've already said, I'm very happy here at Bayern. My focus is on this season and here at Bayern. I'll take that as a compliment "Harry Kane
Bayern eager to extend Kane’s contract
The record Bundesliga champions are in no mood to part ways with Kane. He has been a terrific signing for them, scoring more than 100 goals in just over two and a half seasons. The English striker has an incredible fitness record, and he is showing no signs of decline. There are zero arguments against not offering him a new contract.
Die Roten have already initiated contract talks with Kane. The former Spurs forward has consistently admitted that he is enjoying life in Munich, both from a sporting and personal point of view. Bayern should look to leverage Kane’s desire to stay in Munich and try to conclude talks before the end of the season.
Bayern have done incredibly well in getting new contracts sorted for several key players in the last 12 months. They recently concluded tricky negotiations with Dayot Upamecano regarding a new deal. The Bavarian faithful will hope for a similar outcome with Kane sooner rather than later.
