Bayern Munich have been one of the best teams in the final third this season. They have dominated teams and scored goals for fun. Harry Kane has been the chief architect and finisher of several moves in the attack, but other forwards have also chipped in with crucial contributions.

Serge Gnabry has been one of the surprise packages for Bayern this season. The German forward has started the season on fire when given the opportunity to play as a number ten in the absence of Jamal Musiala.

Gnabry has scored thrice for Die Roten this season. He also has three assists to his name across all competitions. Along with goals and assists, Gnabry has looked terrific in and out of possession. The former Arsenal forward has somewhat looked near his best after a frustrating last two seasons.

After enjoying a terrific start to the season, there has been a lot of discussion in Germany about Gnabry’s future at Bayern. He has entered the final year of his contract. While talking to Sky Sports in Germany last week, Gnabry insisted that he is not thinking too much about his future and remains focused on giving his best for Bayern.

"I'm not thinking about that at all right now. I'm very relaxed. I'm just happy that things are going so well, that we're playing so well. We'll see about everything else when the time comes."

Gnabry also spoke about the dip in form since his prolific 2019/20 campaign, where he played a crucial role in Bayern winning the treble. The German international believes injuries and lack of consistent game time have ensured that he never got in the rhythm to maintain his output in the final third.

Vincent Kompany has shown more trust in him this season, which has yielded positive results until now.

Bayern remain calm about Gnabry’s future

The record Bundesliga champions also remain calm about the future of Gnabry. They have publicly backed the player and given plaudits to the forward for the explosive start to the season. Die Roten have not closed the door towards an extension, but they are in no rush to open talks with the forward.

Bayern will likely take a stock of Gnabry’s situation during the winter break. The German winger can talk to interested clubs in January regarding a free transfer in the summer. As things stand, it does look like his preference is to stay in Munich.

Gnabry has resisted moves away from Bavaria in the last two summers. He will be more than happy to hold talks with Die Roten regarding a new deal. A new contract should make financial sense for Bayern since Gnabry is 30 and currently remains one of the top earners in the squad.
