Bayern Munich are looking to balance their books in the transfer market after splurging €110 million on Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari. The Bavarian club is looking to sanction departures for players who are not part of their plans. Bayern have managed to raise funds through the departures of Daniel Peretz and Alexander Nubel.
The Bundesliga champions have received a financial boost through one of their former players. Former Bayern winger Nestory Irankunda is set to leave Watford to join Sporting CP in Portugal after an impressive season in the Championship.
Irankunda is set to join the Portuguese club for €20 million. As per Sky Sports in the UK, Bayern are set to pocket €8.2 million from this transfer, courtesy of a 40% sell-on clause. Die Roten had sold Irankunda to Watford last summer for €3 million.
The 20-year-old forward scored 4 goals and made 4 assists for Watford in 22 games in the Championship. Irankunda also scored for Australia in the World Cup. A move to Sporting CP will be the perfect next step in the young forward’s development.
With two or three good seasons in Portugal, Irankunda can earn a move to a bigger club. Bayern will certainly keep a close eye on his development even though they no longer have control over his future transfers. Who knows, he may return to Munich one day if he establishes himself as one of the best players in the world.
Bayern Munich hoping to sort departures in the coming weeks
The club chiefs have consistently admitted that there will be no further signings, as they are happy with the squad for next season. Unless there is a shock departure, Bayern Munich will not dip into the transfer market for a new signing.
However, the record Bundesliga champions are still looking to arrange transfers for players who are not part of Vincent Kompany’s plans for next season. Joao Palhinha and Sacha Boey are part of the squad on the pre-season tour, but both have been told to find new clubs.
Bryan Zaragoza has been recovering from knee inflammation, so he has stayed at Sabner Strasse to complete the rehabilitation. The Spanish winger is also not part of Die Roten’s plans for next season. The Bavarian club is looking for permanent transfers for all three players. The trio left Die Roten last season at different phases of the season on loan deals.
