Bayern Munich have enjoyed tremendous success in the last two years when it comes to signing attacking players from England. Harry Kane has already scored more than 100 goals since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, while Michael Olise has been an emphatic success since arriving from Crystal Palace in 2024.
The Bavarian club managed to beat competition from several Premier League clubs for the signature of Olise. They had wrapped up the signing pretty early in the summer after pitching an attractive project to the French winger.
The 23-year-old forward repaid the faith shown by Bayern with a blockbuster debut season. Olise chipped in with 20 goals and 23 assists across 55 appearances in all competitions. His strong performances at Bayern have also helped him establish himself in the French national squad.
Courtesy of a strong debut season at Bayern, there has been speculation around Olise’s long-term future at Bayern. His current deal at Die Roten expires in 2029, but few reports have suggested that there is a release clause in his contract, like he had at Crystal Palace. While talking to 11 Freunde, Eberl once again reiterated that Olise is part of the club’s long-term plans and there is no release clause in his contract.
"What is missing in this discussion is that we signed Michael Olise, who has a contract with us until 2029 - without a release clause - and is on his way to becoming one of the best players on the planet."Max Eberl on Michael Olise
Bayern will not entertain any offers for Olise in the near future. He is far from the peak of his career, so Die Roten would like him to be part of the spine in the first team. The lack of a release clause in his contract will make it difficult for interested clubs to explore a move for the French star anytime soon.
Bayern may have to think about a new deal in the next 2 years
Considering his numbers and quality on the pitch, it is fair to say Olise is one of the best wide players in the world. The Bavarian club should be proactive in terms of securing his long-term future. There are four years left on his current deal. Die Roten shouldn’t wait until 2027 to open contract talks with the winger. In an ideal scenario, they start conversations over a new deal by the end of the current campaign.
Olise has continued his excellent form this season. He already has six goals and six assists in 12 appearances across all competitions. Barring any injury intervention, Olise will at least post numbers similar to last season. Along with Harry Kane and Luis Diaz, Olise has wreaked havoc in the final third this campaign. The Bavarian faithful will hope to see Olise develop in Munich and take his game to the next level in the coming years. His good performances will ensure Die Roten will be in the hunt for silverware.
