Bayern Munich is one of those clubs that is always planning for the future. Whether it's promoting talented youngsters from the academy or bringing in some of the best young players from around the world, Bayern are always in safe hands when it comes to their future, and won't be falling behind once it comes time for veteran players to sadly depart the club.
The club's future is already in safe hands with players like Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Jonas Urbig, and the summer additions of Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari put Bayern well on track to still be one of the top clubs in the world for many years to come.
However, there is one area on the pitch where the future is still somewhat up in the air, and that is in the backline. Alphonso Davies isn't going anywhere, so we can skip past him and look more towards the center-backs. Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah, as well as Kim Min-Jae, have been doing a solid job in the back, but with all of them in their late 20s and early 30s, and now real future center-backs either at the club or coming up through the academy, it could be worrying times for Bayern if they don't plan for what's next in the center of defense.
Thankfully for Bayern, there is one center-back who has been taking Europe by storm since last season, one that would be the perfect player to lead the next generation at Bayern, and it's a defender the club is very familiar with, Luka Vuskovic.
Vuskovic ticks all the boxes to be the next big thing at Bayern
The Croatian has taken Europe by storm since the start of last season, with a season full of incredible performances for Hamburg, and has carried that form over to Brighton this season, where he has been playing like the best center-back in the Premier League, and even one of the best in Europe as a whole.
Somehow still only 19-years-old, Vuskovic ticks all the boxes to fit Vincent Kompany's system and to become the next great center-back at Bayern Munich. He's tall, quick, good on the ball, not afraid to make a tackle, and bring an aerial threat from set pieces, which is becoming more and more important in the modern game. Many always assumed Bayern would make a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck at some point in the future; however, Vuskovic is arguably the better player and would be better suited for Kompany's system.
Vuskovic is in only his first season at Brighton since making a permanent move from Tottenham in the summer, however, given the levels he is showing so far this season, odds are he won't be at Brighton for very long. He's currently valued at around €60 million, but knowing Brighton, they will easily bump up the price, and rightfully so, should anyone show interest in him next summer.
The Croatian will no doubt be a hot commodity in the summer, with a number of Europe's top clubs keeping tabs on him so Bayern would have to be ready to put up a fight for his signature, but given what he could offer for well over a decade, it's a fight that is more than worth it to put up to land the center-back and secure the backline for years to come.
