France’s World Cup campaign will end on Saturday as they play against England in the needless third-place match. The 2018 World Cup champions suffered a 2-0 defeat against Spain in the semi-final on Tuesday. After France’s elimination, speculation has increased around the future of Michael Olise at Bayern Munich.
Olise was one of the top performers for France at the World Cup with five assists to his name. Real Madrid have been linked with him since the end of the last season. However, the Spanish club issued a statement earlier this summer to rebuff the reports. They insisted that they will not pursue a move for Olise and maintain a good relationship with Bayern.
However, L’Equipe and Footmercato have come up with big reports this week suggesting that Olise is eyeing a move to Real Madrid. The French forward believes that a move to the Spanish capital is the ideal next step in his career.
Bild has also reported that Olise indeed told his French teammates that he wants to join Real Madrid. New Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho was present in Berlin at the end of last season to watch Bayern play the DFB Pokal final. Reports in Spain suggested that Olise is Mourinho’s top target to strengthen the attack.
Bayern not fussed by external noise around Olise’s future
Sky Sports in Germany have reported that Bayern remain calm about Olise’s situation despite the reports of a move to Real Madrid in France. The Bavarian club believes Olise may want to play for the Spanish club one day, but it is not going to happen this summer.
Bild has also reported that Die Roten are ready to offer a new contract to the French forward. His current deal expires in 2029. Bayern are ready to offer him a salary package of €25 million and make him one of the highest-paid players in the squad. Olise is also not going to force a move as he doesn’t want to disrupt things at Bayern and remains content with life in Bavaria.
Bayern hold the upper hand in this case, as Olise has several years left on his contract. Unless he issues a transfer request or Real Madrid come up with an unthinkable offer, there should be no movement around the forward’s future this summer. The Bavarian faithful will hope Die Roten remains strong and ends up keeping one of the best forwards at the club for next season.
