Bayern Munich are expected to add another attacker to the squad in the summer since Nicolas Jackson will return to Chelsea at the end of the season. The record Bundesliga champions are looking to sign a winger who can deputize for Luis Diaz on the left flank.
In the next couple of months, Bayern will be linked with several wingers or wide forwards regarding a summer transfer. The most recent name added to the list is Brentford and Germany forward, Kevin Schade.
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are monitoring the situation of Schade. Bild has also reported Die Roten’s interest in the German forward. At this stage, the interest is in the preliminary stage. Brentford’s hefty price tag, closer to €70 million, makes this transfer unrealistic for Die Roten.
Schade has been one of the key players for Brentford this season as they chase qualification for European football. The German forward has seven goals and three assists to his name in 26 Premier League appearances this season.
In terms of the player profile, Schade will be a good signing for Die Roten. He can play on the left flank and through the middle. The 24-year-old is going to get better as he enters the peak of his career.
Signing Schade from Brentford will be a difficult task for Bayern as the Premier League side stick to their valuation. They dug deep to get Manchester United and Newcastle United to meet their valuations of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa in the last summer transfer window, respectively.
Bayern should look for a young winger in summer
Die Roten are well stacked on the right flank with Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl, and Michael Olise giving Vincent Kompany a nice variety of player profiles. Meanwhile, on the left flank, Luis Diaz is the main man, with makeshift options as an alternative for him.
Since Bayern are not going to spend an exorbitant amount in the summer, they would be better served by looking at young wingers who are on the verge of having a breakout season. A young winger will also ensure that Vincent Kompany can rotate him in and out of the squad to keep Diaz fresh.
Apart from signing a wide player, Bayern also want to sign a right-back and one midfielder in the summer. They could also dip into the market for a center-back if Kim Min-jae leaves Munich at the end of the season.
