The transfer activity has intensified at Bayern Munich over the past few days. The Bundesliga champions are yet to sign a player this summer, but they are working on multiple deals at the same time.
Strengthening the attack has been a priority for Bayern this summer since they have limited options in the final third. The Bavarian club had identified Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon as the top target, but he has completed a move to FC Barcelona.
Gordon was expected to play on the left and compete with Luis Diaz for a spot in the starting XI. Bayern have now turned their attention to another Premier League forward to strengthen the wide position.
According to The Athletic in the UK, Bayern have a concrete interest in Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha. The Bavarian club is exploring a move to sign the 17-year-old forward. He is Die Roten’s primary target to strengthen the left side of the attack.
There has been no direct contact between Bayern and Liverpool regarding Ngumoha. The Merseyside club has no plan to part ways with Ngumoha. Liverpool consider him a key part of their long-term plans.
Sky Sports in Germany has also confirmed Bayern’s interest in Ngumoha. They have also revealed that Bayern have verbally agreed terms with the teenager, but a move is looking unlikely since Liverpool doesn’t want to sell the player.
Bayern have done significant business with Liverpool over the last few seasons. Thiago Alcantara left Die Roten in 2021, while Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane have moved to Munich in recent seasons. There is a good relationship between the two clubs, but Ngumoha’s departure is looking unlikely.
The youngster has enjoyed a good season with the senior team at Liverpool. He brings a lot of dynamism to Liverpool's attack due to his pace, and ability to beat the defenders with ease. Unless Ngumoha pushes for a move to Bayern, this transfer looks destined not to happen, at least this summer transfer window.
Bayern continue talks to sign Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven
Meanwhile, Bayern are also working on a deal to sign Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven. After agreeing terms with the attacking midfielder, Bayern are negotiating with the Dutch club. Die Roten want to complete the transfer before the World Cup.
It remains to be seen if Bayern want to sign a wide player like Ngumoha along with Saibari. The next few weeks will give more clarity on Bayern’s transfer targets for this summer.
