Bayern Munich have not been blessed with good luck in 2025 when it comes to injuries. They have lost several key players at the crucial junctures last season. The left-back position has been the most affected in the squad at Bayern due to a high number of injuries.

Alphonso Davies was enjoying a terrific 2024/25 campaign, which earned him a new deal. However, his season ended abruptly in April due to a serious knee injury. The Canadian full-back missed the business end of the last season and remains on the sidelines this campaign.

However, there have been positive developments in the recovery process of Davies. The 25-year-old full-back has been spotted working on the pitch at Sabner Strasse. While talking to the media during this week (via iMiaSanMia), Vincent Kompany insisted that things are looking very promising for Davies, and he could return before the end of 2025.

"It's looking very good for him; I think the medical department and Phonzy are working well together. I was hoping for early January, maybe even a bit sooner. Now the body has to react to the workload week by week. Things are going well at the moment. If he can play a few games in December, then everyone will have done a great job"

Bayern currently have no left-back fit due to injuries to Josip Stanisic and Hiroki Ito. Raphael Guerreiro made to the bench against Borussia Dortmund, but he was not completely fit for the game, which makes sense since Kompany didn’t bring off the bench.

Konrad Laimer has been doing a solid job in the left-back position over the last few weeks. Kompany will be happy to see Davies making a good recovery and will hope that other left footed defenders also return in quick time.

Kompany has done a fine job of managing the injury situation

The Belgian head coach deserves plaudits for the way he has managed the small squad after suffering several injury setbacks. Apart from Davies, Bayern also lost Jamal Musiala for several months after his horrific ankle injury against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup.

Serge Gnabry has stepped up in the absence of Musiala in the number ten position. The German winger has been in fine form since the start of the season. Luis Diaz has also hit the ground running, helping Bayern to score consistently.

In the defense, Laimer and Stanisic have been playing well in the full-back positions. After Stanisic’s injury against Chelsea, Sacha Boey has had more opportunities in the right-back role. The French full-back has been delivering solid performances. Kompany has managed to extract good performances from all players who have been filling in for key members of the squad. Die Roten are unbeaten across all competitions in mid-October, making them one of the most impressive teams in Europe this season.
