Despite the winter break, Bayern Munich come into their showdown with Borussia Monchengladbach just as crippled, if not a little bit more than they were when they played RB Leipzig late in December. Jamal Musiala is set to miss the game with illness, whilst the likes of Hiroko Ito, Josip Stanisic, and Joao Palhinha have not recovered in time for the game.

With that in mind, let's try and predict the XI Vincent Kompany will go for this weekend.

Predicted Starting XI- Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich

GK-Manuel Neuer

Having missed the last few games before the break, Neuer has trained normally this week and is set to regain his place between the sticks here. Not much thinking needs to be done for this one.

RB-Konrad Laimer

With Sacha Boey still not back from injury, selection for the right-back position is straightforward. Laimrer had his best game of the season against Leipzig last time out, as his chemistry with Michael Olise begins to start blossoming.

CB-Kim Min-jae

It's pretty well documented that Kim Min-jae has been playing through injury and serious fatigue, and there will be times when his minutes have to be managed. However, after a three-week break, you would imagine he should be fine here.

CB-Eric Dier

One of the very few negatives from the win over Leipzig is that Dayot Upamecano picked up his fifth yellow card of the season, ruling him out of this game. As mentioned above, Ito and Stanisic are still out due to injuries, there is little other alternative than playing Dier here. This partnership led to Bayern's only Bundesliga defeat of the season at Mainz, so let's hope for a better result here.

LB-Alphonso Davies

In the best form since the 19/20 season, and probably ever, Davies is having a superb campaign - defensively, in possession, and the final third. There have been more positive talks regarding a contract extension in the last week. His recovery pace will be even more important here with Dier in the backline.
