Significance of World Cup 2026

Bayern may have failed to land desired targets in the most recent transfer window. However, with the 2026 World Cup taking place next summer, in an expanded format, there would be a large pool of world-class players to target just a few from. With funds available, the Bavarian giants should be able to complete the squad overhaul in the summer of 2026.

Be that as it may, the Bayern chiefs have seemingly hedged their bets for now, and there is still the matter of a contract extension for Dayot Upamecano to be sorted out. The Bavarian faithful can only hope that those bets pay off with trophies in June and the addition of world-class players soon after. In the meantime, the fates of Max Eberl and Christoph Freund hang in the balance.
