Vincent Kompany faced concerns for Bayern Munich's defence after another poor performance in the latest Bundesliga fixture. A poor outing at home for the German champions in the run-in for PSG this Wednesday, when they barely captured a point against relegation-threatened Heidenheim after conceding three goals.

Since Bayern resumed competitive football after the international break, they have consistently conceded goals against different opposition. They have outscored their opponents, ensuring positive results continue to flow.

Saturday's game against Heidenheim was the third consecutive game in which Bayern had conceded three or more goals. The Bavarian club will have to do better this week to ensure they book a spot in the Champions League final.

Kompany calmed the storm ahead of the PSG clash. The Belgian coach is hoping for a response from the team similar to last year. While talking to the media on Saturday (via iMiaSanMia), Kompany admitted that Bayern can correct things from a defensive point of view, starting from Wednesday.

" We've already talked about this topic last year and said that we have to stay calm. We then kept 8 clean sheets in a row, I think. We've always shown a reaction to setbacks, and now we have to do it again. We have to show a reaction as defenders, as a team - there's no better time than Wednesday to do it"
Vincent Kompany

Whatever Kompany tried to adjust and install in the player's mentality, he had better do it quickly.
The last few goals Bayern conceded have shared the same themes: a set-piece scramble or a rapid counter, taking advantage of the aggressive pressing structure.

Especially in transition, Bayern feels vulnerable when facing pacy, direct attacking players. The situation is much worse without Dayot Upamecano on the pitch, as seen against Heidenheim.
When there is a clear weakness in the defensive structure, it makes it easier for opponents to game-plan against Bayern.

Kimmich doesn't believe Bayern have to make big changes in their style of play

However, vice-captain Joshua Kimmich insisted that Bayern will stick with what has been working for them throughout the course of the season. The German midfielder insisted that the team has already discussed the details that they have to iron out.

At the moment, Bayern can always rely on their attacking fronts to cover and make amends for the defensive frailty. Michael Olise, Harry Kane, and Luis Diaz have bailed the team out in almost every shootout simply because they can score better.

But what would happen when four goals are not enough, like in the first leg? Let's wait and see how Vincent Kompany fixes this hole this Wednesday and brings Bayern to their long-awaited Champions League finals.
