Bayern Munich have completed a big chunk of their transfer business early in the summer. The Bavarian club is not actively looking to sign more players unless there are significant departures. However, this stance on transfers from Bayern doesn’t stop reports linking them with top players in Europe.
According to Diario Sport in Spain, Bayern have recently touched base with the representatives of Barcelona defender Jules Kounde to explore a transfer. The 27-year-old is enjoying a good World Cup with France. He remains keen on staying at FC Barcelona despite speculation around his future.
Sky Sports in Germany have quickly rebuffed Bayern’s interest in Kounde. Florian Plettenberg has reported that Kounde is not a target for Die Roten this summer and they have not made any contact with the French defender to explore a transfer.
🚨❌ Rumours linking FC Bayern with Jules Koundé are currently wide of the mark.

Top player. However, there are no talks, no negotiations and he is not a transfer target for Bayern at this stage. @SkySportDE 🇫🇷 pic.twitter.com/td427Qhf7X
It is difficult to believe that Bayern are looking to strengthen their defense since they have already signed Nathaniel Brown to add quality in the left-back position. Meanwhile, Bayern have a settled group of players in central defense. Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah are first-choice center-backs, while Kim Min-jae is no longer a player Die Roten want to part ways with this summer.
Kounde can also play as a right-back, but Die Roten are well covered in this position. Konrad Laimer is set to sign a new deal. The Austrian will start as the first-choice right-back for Die Roten next season. Josip Stanisic can also play in this position. Joshua Kimmich can fill in if there is an injury crisis.
Bayern may have a quiet rest of the summer transfer window
The Bundesliga champions are well covered in defense, midfield, and attack at this point. They have several fringe players who are not part of their plans for next season. Christoph Freund and Max Eberl will look to sort their departures in the coming weeks. The funds raised from sales will help Die Roten to balance the books after spending €110 million on Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari.
Even if they end up raising funds through sales, Bayern may not add more players to the squad this summer. They had a small squad in the first half of the season due to injuries to key players. The situation is much better this season. Barring any catastrophe, Kompany will have everyone fit for the first half of the season.
Never say never, but it will be an incredible market opportunity for Bayern to sign another player this summer.
