Bayern Munich chiefs are working on sorting out deals for players who are not part of their plans next season. The Bavarian club is not looking to give away cut-price deals for these players as they need to raise funds to strengthen the squad later in the summer.
Joao Palhinha features on the list of players who will be leaving Bayern this summer. The Portuguese midfielder spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. The North London club decided against taking up the option to sign him for €30 million, as they strengthened the midfield by signing Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.
Palhinha will not be short of suitors, as he had a decent loan spell at Spurs. It does look like he is keen on staying in Europe. According to Maisfutebol, Palhinha has rejected a significant offer from Saudi Arabia. The 30-year-old midfielder wants to stay in Europe, closer to his family.
Benfica remains keen on signing Palhinha. The Portuguese midfielder is aware of interest from Benfica. However, it remains to be seen if Benfica will be keen on meeting Bayern’s transfer fee request of €25 million. The Bavarian club may have to reduce their price for the move to happen.
Benfica’s new head coach, Marco Silva, worked with Palhinha at Fulham in the past. The Portuguese midfielder enjoyed his best form under Silva, so a move to Benfica may suit him.
Apart from Benfica, Juventus and AC Milan have also reportedly shown interest in Palhinha. Bayern would ideally like to have a bidding war to get a decent fee for the Portuguese midfielder. It looks certain that he will not leave Bayern on loan.
Along with Palhinha, Bayern are also looking to sort out the departures of Bryan Zaragoza and Sacha Boey. Zaragoza spent last season on loan, while Boey joined Galatasaray on loan during the winter transfer window. Die Roten are also open to listening to offers for Hiroki Ito after signing Nathaniel Brown.
Ismael Saibari arrives at Sabner Strasse
Bayern Munich completed final bits of media work for the signing of Ismael Saibari on Wednesday. The Moroccan forward had completed his medical in the USA during the World Cup. He was spotted at Sabner Strasse with his agent.
Die Roten potentially wanted to understand how he is recovering from the injury that kept him out of the quarter-final clash against France. He is expected to join the squad for pre-season in the first week of August after returning from a short vacation.
