Defenders shine at both ends of the pitch

Whilst Bayern’s attack was disappointing with the final product the same can’t be said of the defense. Kim Min-jae scored the vital goal and was quite solid in defense. He was truly Bayern’s man-of-the-match.

In general, apart from the occasional misplaced pass while playing out from the back, the entire defense performed well as a unit. Kim and Upamecano kept a lid on things centrally whilst Laimer and Davies put in good work up and down the flanks.

In some quarters it’s believed that offense wins games but defense wins championships. With that being the case if the defense remains consistent then Bayern should be near unbeatable once the offense plays to its full potential.
