Bayern Munich and Thomas Muller wanted to part ways in the best way possible by winning the Club World Cup. However, the Bavarian club suffered disappointment as they were knocked out in the quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Muller came off the bench against PSG in the hope of helping the team get back in the game. It was not meant to be. The German forward got a lot of tributes from his teammates and the club after his final game in the Bavarian colours. Bayern released a special documentary about Muller on Friday.

The experienced German forward has revealed this week that he has no plans to retire from football. Considering his fitness, there is no reason for Muller to consider retirement. He still has the quality to play in Europe for several clubs, but it is looking increasingly likely that the former German forward will play away from Europe next season.

USA and Australia remain potential destinations for Muller

Ever since it was clear that Muller would leave Bayern in the summer, he has been consistently linked with a move to the USA. Several MLS clubs have been credited with interest in the veteran German forward.

According to AZ, Bayern are trying to help Muller and their partner club, LAFC, complete a transfer. The German forward can be an ideal ambassador for Bayern in the USA by playing for their partner club. While talking to ZDF this week, Muller also admitted that playing in the USA before the World Cup is certainly an attractive proposition for him.

Apart from the USA, Australia has also emerged as a potential destination for Muller. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, A-League side Sydney FC are plotting an ambitious move to sign Thomas Muller. They have already held talks with Muller’s representatives in the last few weeks.

MLS remain favourites to have Muller next season, but the report from Australia insists that the German forward has been impressed by the pitch made by Sydney FC. The German forward is likely to announce his decision in the coming days.

The Bavarian faithful will fondly remember Muller. It will be weird not to see Muller on the bench in the first game of the Bundesliga. The fans will hope Bayern will involve Muller in some capacity at the club once he hangs up his boots. For now, the Bavarian faithful will support him from afar as he gears up for an overseas adventure.
