Bayern Munich is one of the best-run clubs in Europe. They have been very astute when it comes to spending money and achieving success on the pitch. Involving ex-players with strong personalities and a genuine connection with the club has been one of the key reasons for strong competitiveness on and off the pitch for Bayern.
Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have done a tremendous job since the start of the century when it comes to managing things at Bayern behind the scenes. Both are currently part of the supervisory board.
Bayern would like to follow this trend and keep former players involved at the club in different capacities. Philipp Lahm is expected to be back at Bayern at some time in the future. Lahm played for Bayern throughout his career and won multiple trophies.
Thomas Müller is also a strong contender to take up a management position at Bayern in the future. He is currently playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps. While talking to Bild recently (via iMiaSanMia), Muller refused to rule out a return to Bayern, but he wants to complete the learning curve and be well prepared before taking up such a position of importance at the club.
"In the long term, I'm not ruling anything out. But I can't imagine that becoming relevant anytime soon. You can't just casually land a leadership position at FC Bayern. I want to learn new things and then prepare myself as best as possible for my professional future. But we're not there yet"Thomas Muller
Müller left Bayern last summer as the club decided against offering him a new deal. There were reports in Germany suggesting that Müller would hang up his boots, but he decided to continue playing away from Europe and signed for Vancouver Whitecaps.
Müller will be a good leader for Bayern in the future
It is fair to say Müller is Mr Bayern, considering the astounding number of trophies he won with the club while playing a crucial role in the team. The German forward was also a formidable leader in the dressing room, leading from the front during tough periods.
Müller has an incredible connection with Bayern’s fanbase. Having tasted success in Bavaria as a player, Müller knows what it takes to achieve greatness at the club. This experience will certainly help him to make difficult decisions when he gets into a leadership role at Bayern. However, the Bavarian faithful will have to wait for a few more years to see Müller return to Munich.
For now, he is enjoying playing for Vancouver Whitecaps. He is currently working as a pundit for the World Cup. The Bavarian faithful would like to see the likes of Philipp Lahm, Thomas Müller, and Bastian Schweinsteiger return to the club and take up important positions at the management level.
