Tom Bischof poised to displace Leon Goretzka
Based on recent performances and in-game impact, Tom Bischof seems to be on the ascendency, whilst Leon Goretzka, at best, appears to have plateaued, if not declined.
This trend was once again evident on Saturday. Goretzka started as one half of the midfield double pivot alongside Aleksandar Pavlovic. However, for the start of the second half, Goretzka was replaced by Konrad Laimer. The Austrian took up duty at left-back, and Bischof, who started at left-back, joined Pavlovic in the engine room.
Pavlovic and Bischof looked in sync thereafter and completely bossed the midfield for the remainder of the game. Bischof is yet to have a bad game for the Bavarian giants this season when given the opportunity. Unfortunately for Goretzka, the same can’t be said.
