Joshua Kimmich's second poor game in a row

The previous weekend Joshua Kimmich had, what by his high standards, was clearly a poor performance against Werder Bremen despite the comfortable 3-0 victory on the road.

On Saturday, the 31-year-old midfielder appeared to have been having an improved performance up until the 86th minute when he showed a lack of judgement in attempting to play out from the back and forced a pass, across the face of the goal, to Kim Min-jae which was intercepted and resulted in Frankfurt’s second goal.

Apart from an ankle injury which Kimmich suffered in November, it’s difficult to fathom what may be the root cause of this recent decline in performances from the German Captain. One thing is certain: Kimmich needs to recapture his top form ahead of the upcoming clash with Dortmund.
