Poor finishing could have been costly

Bayern looked in control for most of the match. Despite a more spirited second-half performance from the South American side, Bayern had enough chances in the first-half to put the game out of Boca’s reach.

The main culprits in the opening 45 minutes were Serge Gnabry and, rather surprisingly, Michael Olise, who failed to round the keeper after he was put clean through by Kingsley Coman. Apart from not taking a couple of chances, Olise delivered an impressive performance when it comes to creating chances. Until he scored the winner in the 84th minute, it appeared as if he had forgotten his shooting boots at home. To some extent, the roughhouse tactics from the opposition may have ruffled Olise’s feathers a bit; be that as it may he eventually atoned well for his earlier profligacy.
