Bayern Munich made it two wins from two games at the FIFA Club World Cup when they edged past Boca Juniors by a score of 2-1 in Miami on Friday night. Despite dominating possession and creating more chances, Bayern left it late to secure the three points.

Before Michael Olise caressed the ball into the bottom right-hand corner in the 84th minute for the win, Boca striker-Miguel Merentiel scored on the break to level the score midway through the second half. Harry Kane had previously scored the game’s opening goal in the 18th minute to give the German Champions a 1-0 lead, which they took into the half-time interval. Courtesy of the win against Boca Juniors, Bayern are through to the knock-out round of 16 with a game to spare. Let’s now have a look at some key takeaways from Friday’s deserved 2-1 win.

Jamal Musiala injured again

Twelve minutes into the second half, with Bayern leading 1-0, Jamal Musiala made his appearance when he replaced Serge Gnabry. Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan. Twenty-five minutes later, in the 82nd. minute, with the score tied, Jamal Musiala had to be withdrawn due to injury and was replaced by Thomas Muller.

It looked like a knock to Musiala's calf on Friday. The reports coming out of the US have been encouraging as Musiala is expected to be fit for the clash against Benfica. The Bavarian faithful will hope to get an official confirmation on Sunday. Die Roten need Musiala healthy for the knockout stages of the competition.
