On Monday night, Germany were in action at the Allianz Arena, as they hosted the Netherlands in the Nations League. Fittingly for a game played at the home of Bayern, all three of the club's players were called up to the squad – Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Serge Gnabry were in the starting lineup for this one.

After just three minutes, Germany had the ball in the back of the Dutch net as Jamie Leweling, who was drafted into the squad to replace Bayern’s Musiala, converted from inside the box. Unfortunately, Gnabry was adjudged to be offside in the build-up and VAR overturned the goal.

In any case, it was a dominant half from Julian Nageslsmann’s side, who had eight shots to their visitors' zero in the first-half, whilst having 59% of the ball in the process.

They would get their deserved goal in the second-half, as the aforementioned Leweling scored for good this time. That would be enough, as Germany held out for a 1-0 win, allowing their visitors only three shots throughout the entirety of the game.

Captain Joshua Kimmich leads the way for Germany

As for the Bayern players, Kimmich and Gnabry both played the 90 minutes, with the former in particular having another top game, as he produced another top playmaking performance from right-back. Pavlovic played 77 minutes, before being replaced by Kevin Schade.

This win leaves Germany top of their Nations League group, five points clear of both the Netherlands and Hungary. With their head-to-head record being better than both (barring a 6-0 defeat to Hungary next month), they will need to lose both their remaining games to not win the group at this point.

With the Netherlands and Hungary playing each other next month, their qualification for the quarter-finals was secured tonight. The group winners play their quarter-final second legs at home, and against a runner-up rather than fellow group winner, so there is incentive to finish the job.

Meanwhile, Michael Olise was an unused sub for France in their 2-1 win over Belgium, as he returns to Munich with some needed rest.
