Bayern Munich have enjoyed a productive summer transfer window. They have managed to get their three primary targets. Most importantly, Bayern got these deals done early in the summer. Considering how inflated the summer transfer market has been, Die Roten got all their transfers for reasonable fees.

Courtesy of good transfers, Bayern chiefs are set to be rewarded with new contracts. Max Eberl and Jan-Christian Dreesen are set to get new deals rubber-stamped in the supervisory board meeting later this month.

Sporting director Christoph Freund is also expected to sign a new deal. All three senior executives have worked well in tandem to ensure Vincent Kompany has been supported in the market and publicly over the last 12 months.

While the senior executives are expected to extend their stay at Bayern, the future of Bayern’s chief scout Nils Schmadtke’s future is looking uncertain.

According to TZ’s Philipp Kessler and Mano Banke, Bayern are expected to part ways with Schmadtke. He had joined Die Roten in 2024. This report insists that there has been internal criticism of Schmadtke. Max Eberl was the key person to bring Schmadtke to Bayern, but he is aware that the club is expected to part ways with the chief scout.

Kessler and Banke have also reported that Die Roten have identified Manchester United’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, to replace Schmadtke. Vivell’s contract at Manchester United comes to an end in 2027.

Vivell is known for his good work at the Red Bull group before joining Chelsea for a short stint a few years ago. He has done well at Manchester United, which is highlighted by the English side’s good success rate with transfers in the last couple of years.

It will be interesting to see if Vivell is open to becoming a chief scout at Bayern since his designation is a lot higher at Manchester United. However, his contract has not been renewed yet, which gives Bayern an opening to get him next summer. It remains to be seen if Die Roten want to wait until next summer or pursue other options.

The replacement of Schmadtke may come after the transfer window. For now, the chief executives still have work to do in the transfer market. They are working on arranging transfers for senior players who are not part of the club’s plans for next season.
