It is going to be an exhilarating business end of the season for Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany’s men are competing on all fronts. They have already clinched the Bundesliga title and have booked their place in the DFB Pokal final.
Bayern can take a big step towards a Champions League final when they meet Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the semi-final later tonight. Kompany has done a phenomenal job with a smaller squad this season. Die Roten have played an exciting brand of football, scoring at an incredible rate across all competitions.
The club chiefs will look to give Kompany more quality players in the summer as a reward for his hard work. The Belgian coach and Bayern want to add a player to the attack. The key focus area is the left-wing position. Luis Diaz has been sensational in this position since arriving from Liverpool at the end of the last season.
According to The Athletic, RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande is Bayern’s priority target for the wide position. However, the Ivory Coast forward has several years left on his contract. Moreover, he will cost in excess of €100 million. There is a lot of competition to sign Diomande, with clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, and Manchester United linked with the young winger.
Since Diomande will be expensive, Bayern have turned their attention to Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon. The English forward is open to leaving the Tyneside club in the summer as they look certain to miss out on European football.
Newcastle United may also have to reluctantly consider listening to offers for Gordon since they have to comply with financial fair play regulations.
Bayern face significant competition for Gordon
Similar to Diomande, Bayern will face a lot of competition in signing Gordon. The Athletic has confirmed that Chelsea are interested in signing the former Everton forward. Liverpool have been previously credited with interest in the 25-year-old England international.
Newcastle United reportedly want a fee worth £75 million (€86 million) for Gordon. It is an exorbitant fee for Bayern, but they will rely on the will of the player to bring down the fee. They have signed a Premier League player for the last three summers, and all of them have been a hit. Gordon also has the skillset to hit the ground running for Die Roten.
Bayern will likely explore conditions for transfers for Diomande and Gordon before pulling the trigger for one player.
