Bayern Munich has been enjoying a terrific season until now. They are leading the Bundesliga table by nine points after 27 games. It will take an extraordinary turn of events for them not to retain the league title. Bayern face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals and will play Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Pokal semi-finals.
Along with the quality of players, Bayern have managed to reach this strong position due to exceptional coaching and astute man management from Vincent Kompany. The Belgian coach has had nothing but success since arriving from Burnley in 2024.
Kompany has managed to improve almost every player in the squad this season. The attacking players are enjoying excellent returns, while the midfield and defense have been equally impressive this season.
Kompany's good work at Bayern is certainly attracting attention from other European rivals. According to Sky Sports News in Germany, Kompany is being considered by Manchester City as one of the options to replace Pep Guardiola if the Spaniard decides to leave in the summer.
Bayern moved swiftly earlier this season to extend Kompany’s contract. The Belgian signed a new deal until 2029. The Bavarian club will make sure they do not lose Kompany, at least in the summer. The Belgian coach may eventually move to Manchester City in the future since he played for the Premier League club for several years.
For now, Bayern will not entertain any approach for the Belgian coach. Kompany is also settled in Munich and has perfect conditions to enjoy success in all competitions.
Bayern struck gold with the appointment of Vincent Kompany
The record Bundesliga champions have accidentally stumbled upon a terrific head coach. Kompany didn’t feature among the club’s top five options to replace Thomas Tuchel in 2024. After missing out on primary targets, Bayern approached Burnley to sign Kompany as their next head coach.
The Belgian hit the ground running, helping Bayern regain the Bundesliga last season. The team is playing an attractive style of football and scoring a lot of goals. It is fair to say Bayern feature in the top three teams this season across Europe, which is a big credit to Kompany’s work on the training ground.
Along with setting up the team on the field, Kompany is also good at managing players. Bayern players have consistently praised his man-management style. It is not surprising to see the players taking the foot off the gas throughout the season. The Bavarian faithful and Bayern chiefs will hope Kompany stays in Munich for a long time.
