For the last week or so, the talk of the town in the footballing world has been Manchester City and the guilty verdict on115 charges of breaching financial rules. Many have begun to speculate what this means for not only Manchester City as a club, but also what it means for their players. Should a punishment like relegation come down on them, the superstars would surely look to leave the club, with many top teams in Europe keeping tabs on a number of City players.
Bayern are among the teams looking to stay well informed about the futures of the Manchester City players, and already have their eyes on who they would look to bring in, in the event of a mass exodus.
As being reported by TeamTalk (via Yahoo Sports) Bayern Munich has emerged as a potential landing spot for Manchester City star Phil Foden, as questions continue to swirl surrounding the future's of Manchester City players after the club's guilty verdict. The report goes on to state that Bayern "would absolutely move for Foden should City's situation mean he becomes available", given his past relationship with Bayern manager Vincent Kompany.
Bayern Munich interested in Manchester City homegrown star
Foden would have been a teammate of Kompany's during his last years at Manchester City in the 17/18 and 18/19 seasons, so the manager knows full well what Foden can bring to a team. And that was back when he was still a kid, Foden has only gone and gotten better over the years, reaching his highest when he won Premier League Player of the Season in the 23/24 season.
At 26-years-old Foden has a trophy cabinet fitting for a Bayern player, having won six Premier League titles, a Champions League, three FA Cups, and five Carabao Cups, and has been a key figure in the team since breaking into the main team under Pep Guardiola.
The Englishman can play on both the left and right wings as well as at number 10, making him an incredibly versatile player who would take the Bayern squad to the next level. Fans have been crying out for years that the Bayern squad isn't deep enough, causing the manager to rely too heavily on players like Luis Diaz, Jamal Musiala, and Michael Olise, not giving the stars time to rest, having to constantly play match after match after match.
Adding a player like Foden into the mix would give Vincent Kompany the ability to rotate his players, which could finally set Bayern up for success in their hunt to get their hands back on the Champions League trophy. The 26-year-old is under contract with Manchester City until 2030 and, with a current value of around €70 million, wouldn't be cheap by any means. Bayern would reportedly have to put up a fight with teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham if they hope to secure his signature, but it is a fight that is more than worth it to put up.
