Bayern Munich extended their winning run to three games in the Bundesliga with a nervy 3-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday 23 of the Bundesliga. Courtesy of the win against Frankfurt and Dortmund’s 2-2 draw against RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich extended their lead to eight points at the top of the league table.

Vincent Kompany made a crucial change in the back four since Jonathan Tah is one yellow card away from suspension. Kim Min-jae started alongside Dayot Upamecano in the heart of defense. Jamal Musiala also got a start in the number ten position behind Harry Kane.

Bayern started the game on a positive note as Michael Olise had a ferocious shot from outside the box that missed the target by a whisker in the fifth minute of the game. Die Roten were relentless in the first 15 minutes, which ultimately helped them score the game's first goal.

Aleksandar Pavlovic volleyed the ball in the net after it fell kindly in front of him at the edge of the box. His shot awkwardly bounced in front of Kaua, which made it difficult for him to stop the shot.

The hosts doubled their advantage four minutes later through Harry Kane. The English striker headed the ball into the net after Josip Stanisic flicked it in his path after a terrific delivery from the corner.

Die Roten kept on creating chances during the first half as Jamal Musiala had a couple of great chances to get on the scoresheet. The Bavarian club also defended resolutely, giving Frankfurt no time and space in the final third.

Bayern Munich dig a hole for themselves in the second half

The defending Bundesliga started the second half where they left off in the first. Olise forced a brilliant save from Kaua in the 48th minute. However, the Bavarian club suffered a significant blow after this attempt as Alphonso Davies suffered an injury. Hiroki Ito replaced the Canadian full-back in the 50th minute.

Bayern continued to create chances, but their moves lacked a finishing touch. The visitors recovered from this onslaught before getting a golden chance to get back in the game as they hit the post after the hour mark.

The hosts punished Frankfurt a few minutes later as Kane scored his second goal of the game. Joshua Kimmich won the ball in the final third. Kane collected the box around the box and curled it past the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

Just when it looked like the game was done and dusted, Bayern gave Frankfurt a lifeline in the 75th minute. Harry Kane fouled Oscar Hojlund in the box, giving Frankfurt a route back in the game. Jonathan Brukardt made no mistake when it came to converting from the spot.

The visitors made it 3-2 in the 86th minute through relentless pressing. Bayern made a calamitous error while playing out from the box. Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga won the ball and bundled it into the net to set up a grand finish to the game.

Bayern saw out the final minutes to ensure they got all three points. It should have been a comfortable win, but lapses in concentration ensured the visitors had a chance to get a point going into the added time.
