Bayern Munich are already planning for the next transfer window. They are known for making the most of the opportunities where they can sign players on free transfers. Die Roten signed Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof in the summer when their contracts expired with Bayer Leverkusen and Hoffenheim, respectively.
Bayern are hoping to strengthen their defense with another signing on a free transfer next summer. They have shown concrete interest in Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guehi. The English defender was close to joining Liverpool in the summer, but the move fell through on deadline day.
Guehi is now attracting interest from several big clubs since he will be available on a free transfer next summer. Liverpool remain a top contender, but foreign clubs can hold talks with Guehi in January for a pre-contract agreement.
According to Sport Bild (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern will hold talks with Guehi in January as soon as he gets permission to talk with interested clubs. The English defender has been tight-lipped about his future since the move to Liverpool collapsed in the summer.
Die Roten had recently managed to sign a player from Crystal Palace when they beat Premier League clubs for Michael Olise in 2024. Bayern will hope for a similar outcome when they start working on a deal to sign Guehi.
Guehi will be a terrific signing for Bayern. The former Chelsea center-back has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons. With the best years ahead of him, Guehi is only going to get better.
Bayern are also keeping an eye on another Premier League defender
Apart from Guehi, Bayern are also keeping an eye on another Premier League defender. According to SportBild, Bayern also have an interest in Nottingham Forest center-back Murillo. The Brazilian has been one of the key players in Forest’s rise over the last couple of seasons.
Unlike Guehi, Murillo has several years left on his contract. The Brazilian has a contract until 2029 with Forest. The Premier League side will ask for a big fee if Bayern approach them for a transfer.
It looks certain that Bayern will sign a central defender next summer. There is a lot of speculation around the futures of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae. The French defender has entered the final year of his contract, while Kim Min-jae has been reportedly a candidate for sale over the last 18 months.
