Bayern Munich endured a brutal 2025 when it comes to injuries to key players. Alphonso Davies suffered a serious knee injury while playing for Canada at the end of March. The Canadian full back was effectively ruled out for six months after undergoing surgery to repair the damage.

The left back position has been cursed for Die Roten in the last 12 months. Hiroki Ito also suffered another foot injury during the business end of last season, which effectively ruled him out for several months.

Bayern’s misery was further compounded during the Club World Cup as Jamal Musiala suffered a horrific ankle injury during the clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup. It was a disaster for Die Roten as Musiala is one of the first names on the team sheet for Vincent Kompany.

The Bavarian club has done well in the absence of these three players, but they may get a chance to see them sooner than previously expected. While talking to Sky Sports in Germany, Max Eberl hinted at a return for these three players before the end of Hinrunde.

Bayern will have to be cautious with the reintegration of these three players to avoid further setbacks. Considering the qualities all three players bring to the table, Kompany’s squad will look formidable during the second half of the season.

"We have serious hope that all three will be able to play on the pitch this year."

Josip Stanisic resumes running on the pitch

The Bavarian faithful also received another positive news on the injury front. Josip Stanisic was spotted running on the pitch at Sabner Strasse on Monday. The Croatian defender had to come off due to an injury against Chelsea on matchday one of the Champions League 10 days ago.

Bayern didn’t give a time frame on Stanisic’s return to action. However, his early return to the pitch suggests that a return to action could come soon for him.

The defending Bundesliga champions are also without Jonas Urbig. The young goalkeeper is expected to be back in action in the next few days. Raphael Guerreiro is also on the sidelines due to a minor injury. As things stand, Bayern have to use Konrad Laimer in the left-back position since all three naturally left-footed full-backs are injured.

Kompany will hope that he doesn’t lose any players in the remaining two international breaks of 2025. He has ensured that Die Roten get desired performances and results in the absence of key players, but the high-pressing football will take a toll on the squad. The Belgian squad will need a deep squad for the brutal second half of the season.
