With the World Cup kicking off later today, clubs are scrambling to get a few deals done before the tournament rolls on. Bayern Munich are also working on a couple of deals to strengthen the squad. As things stand, they are closing on their priority target to strengthen the defense.
According to SportBild’s Christian Falk, Bayern are in advanced talks with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign Nathaniel Brown. There has been a breakthrough in talks between the two clubs, and an overall fee just under €65 million has been agreed. The two clubs are working on the intricacies and the structure of the upfront fee and bonuses.
Sky Sports in Germany and Fabrizio Romano have also reported that talks are in advance stage between the two clubs. Brown has already given the green light to a move to Bayern. The 22-year-old is currently in the German squad for the World Cup.
If everything gets agreed in the next few days, Brown can complete the medical in the USA. Die Roten stepped up their efforts to sign Brown over the last couple of weeks as they looked to strengthen the full-back positions.

Signing Brown is smart piece of business for Bayern
Brown can play in both full-back positions, but his primary position is the left-back position. The German international can also be deployed higher up the pitch. Considering his versatility, he will give tactical flexibility to Vincent Kompany.
It is a significant fee Bayern will be paying for a defender this summer. Alphonso Davies has been a key player for Kompany, but the last 12 months have been brutal for the Canadian full-back due to injuries. Davies will now compete with Brown for a place in the starting XI next summer.
Brown can also deputise for Luis Diaz on the left flank. The Colombian forward has been sensational in his debut season, but Die Roten didn’t have a backup for him. Brown can excel in this role whenever Diaz needs a breather.
It will be interesting to see if Bayern will sign another full-back this summer. They are expected to part ways with Sacha Boey after he had a productive loan spell at Galatasaray during the second half of the season. Konrad Laimer is currently in a stalemate with Bayern for a new contract. Die Roten have been linked with Givairo Read from Feyenoord, but their interest has cooled in the past few weeks.
