Bayern Munich fans have finally got some positive updates on the club’s pursuit of strengthening the attack. The Bundesliga champions are locked in talks with Liverpool to sign Luis Diaz. The Colombian winger has already given the nod to a move to Munich.

According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern have found a breakthrough in talks with Liverpool for Luis Diaz. The Bavarian club has reached an agreement with Liverpool for a fee worth €75 million, including add-ons. Diaz has agreed to a contract with Bayern until 2029.

Meanwhile, Bild and The Athletic have also reported that talks have accelerated between Bayern and Liverpool for Diaz. The Colombian winger has travelled to Japan with Liverpool, but he can soon board a flight for Munich once all the details are finalised between the two parties.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot had left Diaz out of the squad against the pre-season friendly against AC Milan on Saturday. The Dutch coach had admitted that the decision was solely due to the speculation around the winger’s future. From a fitness point of view, Diaz has trained well, and he will get up to speed quickly when he joins Bayern.

Bayern are paying over the odds for Diaz

Even though Diaz will hit the ground running for Bayern, the transfer fee for the winger with one year left on his contract is high. The 28-year-old is at the prime of his career, but he will certainly not be a long-term signing for Die Roten.

Moreover, Diaz will reportedly receive a significant salary, which is reportedly close to €14 million per season. The entire package for this transfer is certainly expensive. Unless there is a bid from Saudi Arabia in the future, Die Roten will not get any resale value from this deal.

On the flip side, Diaz giving strong three seasons in the Bavarian colours will make this deal worth it for Bayern. Die Roten have seen Harry Kane hit the ground running after arriving from the Premier League. They will hope to see a similar trend from Diaz when he completes the transfer.

Bayern remain keen on signing another forward since Jamal Musiala is expected to be out for several months. They could revive talks with VfB Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade once the deal for Diaz gets over the line. Woltemade has already agreed personal terms with Bayern, but VfB Stuttgart have rejected two bids from the Bundesliga champions.
