Vincent Kompany delivered in his first season at Bayern Munich, guiding the team to a Bundesliga title. The Belgian coach’s appointment had raised eyebrows since he was not the first choice option for Die Roten. However, he managed to hit the ground running.

The cup competitions were disappointments for Bayern last season, but performances were largely good under Kompany. The former Burnley head coach should have been backed in the summer transfer window, but Bayern failed to get their top targets. Die Roten had several failed pursuits in the summer.

There were significant departures from the squad, especially in the attack. Die Roten managed to sign Luis Diaz and Nicolas Jackson to fill the void left by senior forwards. However, neither players were the club’s first choice targets.

Despite the turbulence in the summer, Kompany has ensured Bayern have enjoyed a perfect start to the season. The Bavarian club has won eight games in a row across all competitions over the last two months. Along with positive results, Bayern have also played an attractive style of football.

According to Sport1, Bayern chiefs are pleased with the way Kompany has handled the squad over the summer. The Belgian coach is particularly effective with his man-management, making sure there are no exceptions in the squad. There are currently no dissatisfied players in the squad.

The club World Cup was pivotal for Bayern as Kompany used the tournament to strengthen the team spirit in the squad. Die Roten didn’t win the competition, but the squad certainly benefited from the tournament which could be seen in their positive start to the season.

Goretzka hails Kompany’s style of communication

The players at Bayern have also been impressed with the way Kompany has communicated his decisions, which has given players clarity. Leon Goretzka has been specifically praised the Belgian coach for communicating effectively and showing appreciation towards every player in the squad.

Kompany has not been rigid with his methods. He was reluctant to give opportunities to young players last season, but there has been a change of stance this season, partly due to the smaller squad.

The Belgian coach is not an abrasive personality, which makes life easy for the club hierarchy. Even though the summer transfer window didn’t go as planned, Kompany always remained positive in front of the media.
