Bayern Munich have not been overly active in the transfer window when it comes to clinching deals. They have worked on deals for several players throughout the summer, but failed to get them over the deal for different reasons.
The Bavarian club moved quickly to replace Eric Dier at the start of the transfer window by signing Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer. It was a great bit of business as Bayern managed to beat competition from FC Barcelona for the German defender’s signature.
After signing Tah, Bayern had a series of failures as they struggled to win the race for the signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. The German star preferred a move to Liverpool over Die Roten. Bayern also tried to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, but he signed a new deal. The Bundesliga champions also tried to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, but the recently crowned Champions League winners have no plans to part ways with Barcola.
Bayern had parted ways with Leroy Sane and Thomas Müller, so signing at least one forward was crucial. They ended up signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool at the start of August. The Bavarian club is expected to be active in the remainder of the transfer window, but the club chiefs are content with the squad. While talking to SportBild, Max Eberl insisted that the squad is well set for next season.
"With the transfer of Luis Díaz, we have a squad for the coming season that we are very happy with. Therefore, there's no urgent need to be active in the transfer market. Nevertheless, we will continue to keep our eyes open and do our work, so that we are ready should another good option arise."Max Eberl
Further transfers will depend on departures
Bayern are planning to include Lennart Karl in the first team next season. He is considered a deputy for Michael Olise on the right flank. Karl and Diaz will be two new names in the attack at Bayern for the new season.
The Bundesliga champions need one more attacking player since Jamal Musiala will at least miss the first half of the season. VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade remains a target for Bayern. Rekordmeister had two bids rejected for him. Since Stuttgart are reluctant to negotiate, Bayern halted their pursuit.
The Bavarian club may come back for him in the next two weeks if there is a significant departure. Kingsley Coman is a prime candidate for a big departure. The French forward has agreed on personal terms with Al-Nassr. The Saudi Arabian club needs to iron out the details of their agreement with Bayern.
In the best possible scenario, Bayern will sign one more forward and bring a close to their transfer window.
