Leroy Sane finding rhythm after injury frustrations

Leroy Sane has endured a slow start to the season. The German winger missed the entire pre-season due to a groin injury. Sane had to wait for his opportunities after regaining fitness due to the fine form of Michael Olise. He finally got the first start of this season on Wednesday.

Sane made the most of this opportunity and delivered a strong performance. Along with getting on the scoresheet, Sane looked very lively in the final third. He created two chances in the game and had three shots on target.

It is good to see Sane slowly getting back in form since he has a big role to play for Bayern this campaign. The performance against Mainz should boost his confidence. He will compete with Olise for a place in the starting XI. The French winger is ahead of him right now, but Sane can still expect to get an adequate amount of game time due to the hectic schedule. Sane needs to keep up the good work, and opportunities will come for him in the starting XI under Vincent Kompany.
