After a turbulent week, Bayern secured an emphatic 6-1 victory over Leipzig. The gala win at the Allianz Arena was made possible thanks to a hat-trick from Luis Díaz. Dortmund dropped points again earlier in the day, and Freiburg still have their sixth match to play, so Bayern are Bundesliga leaders again.
Kompany made three changes to his starting lineup on Saturday night. Jonathan Tah was replaced by Upamecano, Pavlović returned to the starting XI, and Lennart Karl made way for Ismael Saibari. The three newcomers had few ‘adaptation problems’, from beginning to end, it was a Bayern exhibition, starting as early as the second minute. A perfect pass found Michael Olise on the right wing after Luís Díaz and Harry Kane failed to control the ball, but Pavlović managed to find Kane again. The Ballon d’Or candidate fired a straightforward shot at Leipzig goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, showing the early signs that tonight was going to be all Bayern.

Leipzig were ‘lucky’ at times, with goalkeeper Vandevoordt saving several Bayern attempts
Leipzig registered their first—and certainly dangerous—chance two minutes later. Antonio Nusa got his head to the ball in front of Jonas Urbig, but his finish was sloppy.
But from then on… It was all Bayern. A near-perfect pass from Kimmich found Luis Díaz, who had a clear run at Vandevoordt’s goal, making it 1-0 with a clever finish. Willi Órban headed away Nathaniel Brown’s volley, and it was only a matter of time before 2-0 appeared on the scoreboard. Kane cleared the ball in his own penalty area and found Díaz on the left wing, who then picked out the advancing Pavlović, finding Bayern's second goal.
You could say that Leipzig were ‘lucky’ to be only 2-0 down. After Olise hit the post, the Frenchman found the net five minutes later. Once again, Harry Kane played a key role, finding Olise with a perfect pass. The Frenchman beat Vandevoordt with a shot into the bottom-right corner. Several chances followed towards the end of the first half, but Vincent Kompany’s side failed to score a fourth or fifth goal, or even a sixth.

Leipzig fail to limit the damage as Díaz completes his hat-trick
Demichelis’s side hoped to keep the damage to a minimum, but just two minutes into the second half, Bayern made it 4-0 through Luis Díaz. It was almost a copy of the opening goal; once again, Kane won the ball back and immediately found Díaz.

The Colombian again made no mistake in front of Vandevoordt. The ‘tiki-taka show’ continued down the left, with a lightning-fast attack ending with Kane, who secured Bayern’s fifth with a well-placed shot. The storm subsided for a moment, but in the 69th minute, Díaz completed his hat-trick from a rehearsed corner with a shot from outside the box.

No double figures for Bayern, with Arsenal and Freiburg up next
Thanks to some excellent goalkeeping from Vandevoordt, Bayern did not reach double figures. Bayern set some breathtaking records—not to mention their already impressive home numbers. Leipzig managed to make it 6-1 via the Serb Andrija Maksimović in garbage time, but most importantly, Bayern averted a ‘crisis’ and are top of the Bundesliga again.
Their next league match is away to SC Freiburg next week; first, however, comes Wednesday’s massive Champions League clash with Arsenal.
