Throughout the recently concluded 2024/25 season, Bayern Munich endured a torrid time with injuries, particularly in the defensive department. As fate would have it, the situation largely remains the same ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, with Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Ito on the injury list. The latter two are not expected back in action for several months; in Ito’s case, it may be closer to a year.
Under these circumstances, Bayern have done well to secure the services of Jonathan Tah on a free transfer ahead of next season. However, with Tah being under contract at Leverkusen until June 30, it’s left to be seen exactly how much Bayern would have to pay for an early release to allow him to play in the Club World Cup, which kicks off in the middle of June.
With that out of the way, lets now take a look at how both Upamecano and Min-jae may fare, once healthy, after Tah’s arrival at Bayern Munich.
