Bayern Munich have been linked with several defensive players over the past few weeks. The Bavarian club is expected to add more players in the full-back position after parting ways with Raphael Guerreiro at the end of the season. Bayern are also expecting Sacha Boey to leave on a permanent deal after a fruitful loan spell at Galatasaray during the second half of the season.

Die Roten have also been linked with several central defenders. Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah are the first-choice center-backs for Bayern, but they could be in the transfer market for another central defender if one of Hiroki Ito and Kim Min-jae end up leaving in the summer.

Kim Min-jae has been linked with a move away from Die Roten in the last couple of transfer windows. However, the South Korean center-back is content with his position in the squad. He is currently third choice center-back for Bayern.

The former Napoli center-back could be in line for a return to Serie A, as there is a scope for a swap deal to develop between Bayern and Juventus.

According to La Gazetta Dello Sport (via iMiaSanMia), Gleison Bremer is emerging as one of the transfer targets for Bayern. The Brazilian defender is expected to leave Juventus this summer. The Serie A side is open to listening to offers for Bremer after missing out on the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti is keen on reuniting with Kim Min-jae. The duo won the Serie A title at Napoli a few years ago. The South Korean defender can potentially move the other way if Bayern decide to pursue a move for Bremer.

Bayern should aim to sign a young center-back this summer

Bremer has excelled in Serie A over the last few seasons. The 29-year-old is part of Brazil’s World Cup squad. He will certainly add quality and experience to the current Bayern squad.

However, Die Roten already have center-backs in their prime. They would be better served by signing a young central defender this summer, who can develop next season and eventually replace Jonathan Tah in the squad.

Bremer can be a successful signing for Die Roten, but he is unlikely to be part of their long-term plans. If they are looking for an experienced central defender, someone like Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer would be a better fit. The French center-back is 27 and still has more years at the top level than Bremer. In an ideal world, Die Roten get a young center-back who can become part of the squad’s spine for several years.
