Bayern Munich presented their expensive full-back signing of the summer on Wednesday. Nathaniel Brown spoke to the media for the first time since completing a move to Bayern from VfB Stuttgart at the start of July.
Brown will provide depth in the left-back position. The German defender can also play as a left-sided forward and slot in the midfield. Max Eberl once again reiterated that his versatility made him an attractive signing for Bayern.
The left back position looks well covered for Die Roten. Alphonso Davies and Brown are natural left-backs. Meanwhile, Josip Stanisic, Tom Bischof, and Konrad Laimer can also play in this position if needed.
On the other side of the defense, Laimer is the first-choice option. The Austrian committed his future to the club last week by signing a contract until 2029. Stanisic and Joshua Kimmich are the other potential options in the right-back position.
While talking to Sportbild (via iMiaSanMia), former Bayern defender Valérien Ismaël has urged the club to strengthen the right-back position by signing Spanish World Cup-winning full-back Pedro Porro. Ismaël believes that the Tottenham Hotspur full-back has the qualities to excel under Vincent Kompany.
"Pedro Porro has shown that he's an outstanding defender. He would be a fantastic addition to FC Bayern. Full-backs of this caliber are always hard to find. Porro is tenacious and strong in defensive duels, quick, and always capable of producing a dangerous attacking moment. He simply has the complete package"Valérien Ismaël , Former Bayern defender
Porro was one of the best full-backs in the World Cup. He also scored the crucial goal in the semi-final against France to seal Spain’s place in the final. The Spaniard works hard on the right flank and has great delivery in his locker. Ismaël is absolutely spot on when it comes to Porro seamlessly adapting to Kompany’s system at Bayern.
The Spaniard has done well for Spurs in the Premier League. Porro will cost a significant fee, as he signed a new deal in June that will keep him with the North London side at least until 2031.
Bayern have no plans to sign a right-back this summer
There is no doubt about Porro being a good signing for Die Roten. However, the Bavarian club has no plans to sign a new right-back this summer. Max Eberl admitted that Bayern will not make further signings this summer.
The Bundesliga champions are in fact looking to part ways with one right-back. Sacha Boey is expected to leave Munich before the end of the window. He had a productive loan spell at Galatasaray during the second half of the season. However, he doesn’t feature in Die Roten’s plans for next season. Mid-table Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Boey. Bayern are looking to get a fee of €15 million for the French full-back.
