Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich is enjoying the best start in the club's history this season. A flawless winning streak to start the season is unprecedented, even for the legendary 2012/13 or 2019/20 treble squads.

With a win against Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayern Munich equalled a European top-five league record for most consecutive wins to begin a campaign. AC Milan achieved 13 victories on a spin to start their 1992/93 season, a record that still stands to this day. Bayern joined the Rossoneri with a win against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

To make this feat even greater, Bayern exceeded AC Milan's goal difference during this run. Fabio Capello's boys tallied 45 goals and conceded only 13 in those matches. Vincent Kompany's Bayern is are on 47 goals after the 3-0 win against Monchengladbach. The Bavarian club did not even concede double-digit figures, with only nine goals conceded in 13 games.

Bayern Munich can better Milan's record in the midweek DFB Pokal clash against FC Koln on Wednesday.

Bayern's form made them too good a team to contain for Monchengladbach

The current form showed a vast contrast. While Bayern fans rejoiced as their team is tearing up the league, Borussia Monchengladbach fans are shedding tears of sorrow. Their team is sitting at the bottom of the table with only three points and zero wins in seven matchdays. Having said that, an away fixture at the Borussia Park is always a dreaded challenge for Bayern Munich. In last season's matchup at the arena, the side only scraped away with a victory thanks to the only goal by Harry Kane.

Vincent Kompany went into the game with an abundance of confidence and self-belief. They were helped further by the home side by reducing themselves to ten men with a rash challenge. Die Roten struggled to get a breakthrough in the first half, but eventually stepped up a gear in the second half. With the help of impactful substitutes, Die Roten clinched a comfortable victory.

The focus will now switch towards making it 14 wins in a row on Wednesday in the DFB Pokal. Considering how players looked fatigued against Gladbach, Kompany may make changes to the starting XI. Die Roten have not won the DFB Pokal for quite some time, so it is a crucial competition for them this season. Kompany may make a change or two, but all key players are likely to play a part against FC Koln.
