The Lows: Alphonso Davies' ACL tear on international duty

Davies was enjoying his best season since the treble-winning campaign in 2019/20. He was the heart of Bayern's defence and build-up structure thanks to his game-breaking recovery speed. The Canadian also penned a five-year extension with Die Roten after a drama-filled negotiation that almost saw him leave elsewhere.

When fans thought they could take a breather from the saga, Alphonso Davies tore his ACL in an inconsequential match with Canada. What made the Bayern board and supporters fuming was the unprofessional handling of Davies' injury from the Canadian coaching staff.

Davies was sidelined for over nine months, including the conclusion of last season, when Bayern had to face tough contests in the Champions League.
