Alphonso Davies

With Luis Diaz starting three games in a row, Kompany decided to give the Colombian forward a breather on Wednesday. The Belgian head coach decided to start Alphonso Davies on the left flank and Josip Stanisic in the left-back position.

Davies has been in good form this season, so it was not surprising to see him do well higher up the pitch. He timed his run to perfection to score the equaliser in the first half. The finish was also exquisite, ensuring that David Raya had no chance to make the save.

The Canadian completed the most dribbles (3) during his stay on the pitch, and he also had 11 touches in the final third. Davies helped in stretching Arsenal’s compact defense. He also worked hard out of possession and helped Stanisic in dealing with Arsenal’s forwards attacking from the right side.

His performance against Arsenal in a different position further strengthens the claim that Davies is back to his best after a difficult 12 months due to injuries.
