It is no secret that Bayern Munich will be busy in the winter transfer window. Die Roten already have a thin squad after they failed to get replacements for Benjamin Pavard and Ryan Gravenberch in the final week of the summer window. Bayern have to fill those positions in January since they will lose a few more players to the AFCON and Asian Cup.

Christoph Freund has already revealed positions Die Roten will look to strengthen in the winter. Thomas Tuchel is also hopeful about getting deals over the line to make sure Bayern are competitive in the Bundesliga and Champions League during the second half of the season.  The Bavarian club may end up rivaling Borussia Dortmund for one particular player in January.

According to Bild, Bayern have an interest in Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu. Borussia Dortmund are also eager to sign the 24-year-old midfielder. Bild also reveals that the Turkish club will look to get close to €30 million for Kadioglu.

Kadioglu is a versatile player for Turkey and Fenerbahce. Central midfield is his primary position, but he can also play in both full-back positions to great effect. He recently delivered a man-of-the-match performance from the left-back position for Turkey during the 3-2 win against Germany.

The Turkish midfielder will improve the quality of Bayern’s squad across different positions. However, they need a defensive player that can specifically play in the heart of defense. Kadioglu can play in central midfield, but Die Roten wants a defensive midfielder rather than a central midfielder to strengthen the midfield department.

Ferdi Kadioglu will be a much better fit for Dortmund since they are looking for a versatile full-back. Bayern are well covered in the left-back position, while Konrad Laimer and Noussair Mazrauoi have shared duties on the right side of the defense this season.

Bayern’s priority target for January is set to be a central defender who can also play in the right-back position. They need a defender that is very similar to Pavard. The Bavarian club had identified Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah as a transfer target in the summer, but the interest in the English defender has cooled due to his injuries this season.

As we get closer to the end of Hinrunde in December, Bayern’s transfer targets for January will be more clear. Freund is expecting a busy few weeks ahead as they try to find the right players in a difficult transfer window. Several clubs are reluctant to sell players midway through the season, so it will be intriguing to see which players Bayern end up with in January.
