FC Koln

It has not been a great start to the Bundesliga campaign for FC Koln and Steffen Baumgart. While the Billy Goats have continued to play with the same pressing and fearless style Baumgart wants, the performances have not led to points as Koln enters Friday’s home match sitting in the relegation zone. Baumgart’s men have collected just six points and missed a great opportunity to jump out of the relegation zone in their last outing as they only managed a 1-1 draw vs Bochum. Baumgart will hope that his side can get something against Die Roten on Friday to kickstart their campaign.

In goal, Marvin Schwabe should get the start having started the previous 11 Bundesliga games. The back four has remained unchanged for Koln in the last two games. Since they could get points from the last two games,  I don’t see Baumgart changing from the back four of Rasmus Carstensen, Timo Hubers, Julian Chabot, and Dominique Heintz against Bayern.

Eric Martel should get the start as one of the defensive midfielders on Friday. He will partner Dejan Ljubicic in central midfield. Mark Uth is set to miss Friday’s match and opens up the attacking midfield spot for Florian Kainz, who has been playing a bit deeper in recent weeks, but scored a brace against Monchengladbach on Matchday eight as the attacking midfielder. Luca Waldschmidt and Linton Maina should flank Davie Selke in the attack to form the front three for Koln.

FC Koln 1-3 Bayern Munich (Kane x2, Sane)

Harry Kane continues his excellent run of form in the Bundesliga and adds two more to his tally. Leroy Sane puts the international break behind him and finds the net. Thomas Muller has been in good form, so expect him to get an assist on Friday. Since Die Roten have been leaking goal, FC Koln may end up getting a consolation goal.
