On Matchday 11 of the Bundesliga campaign, Bayern Munich hosted a freshly promoted Heidenheim in a match that did not disappoint. Expectations were high as the last time these two sides faced off against each other, the score ended 5-4 favoring the Bavarian side.

To maintain a tight hold on the title race with Leverkusen, Die Roten needed to make ease of this Heidenheim side and extend their unbeaten Bundesliga run. Though the visitors became tougher competition than anticipated, Bayern still managed to walk away with three points. Here are Bayern’s top performers from their 4-2 win over Heidenheim.

Aleksandar Pavlovic

In his first-ever Bundesliga start for Bayern, Aleksandar Pavlovic impressed on the field. Knowing he had massive shoes to fill due to the suspension of Joshua Kimmich, Pavlovic did a fairly good job in the center of the park. The 19-year-old looked like a seasoned veteran as he took control of the midfield next to Konrad Laimer.

Making his stellar starting debut that much sweeter, Pavlovic has risen through the ranks of Die Roten’s academy, and to show such dominance on the pitch demonstrates a lot of promise in the club’s home-grown talent. Along with putting a shift defensively, Pavlovic was also heavily involved in the final third. All these qualities along with making accurate tackles demonstrated that Pavlovic has a lot to offer in this squad.

Leroy Sane

To extend his run of near-perfect form, Leroy Sane once again impressed in every aspect of his game. Not only does he continue to display that he is one of the most skillful and precise dribblers in the world at the moment, but the German forward continues to contribute with goals and assists every game.

Though he was unable to add his name to the scoresheet this time around, Sane provided the assists for Die Roten’s first-half goals. The first saw Sane deliver a rocketing ball across the penalty box to find the foot of Harry Kane. The more impressive of his assists came from a corner taken in the 44th minute to pick out the head of Kane in a crowded box. Another stellar performance from the German international.

Harry Kane

The man who is quickly becoming a fan favourite does it again for Die Roten. After scoring hattricks in back-to-back Bundesliga games, Harry Kane scored a brace against Heidenheim to continue his record-breaking start to life in Germany.

Two first-half goals against Heidenheim on Saturday make it 17 league goals in just 11 games in the Bundesliga for Kane. He is on pace to beat the goal-scoring record Robert Lewandowski set just three seasons ago for Die Roten in a single league campaign. It’s not just his goalscoring that impressed today though. His presence alone gives Bayern a certain kind of confidence that they lacked much of last year, and his ability to make space on and off the ball has been on par with the likes of Thomas Muller. A definite Man of the Match performance from Harry Kane.

Die Roten will be happy with this final performance going into the upcoming international break. Bundesliga will resume after a fortnight when Bayern play FC Koln.
