Bayern Munich have made a promising start to the new season, despite receiving criticism for a few of their performances. The defining Bundesliga champions are yet to lose a competitive game in the league. Bayern also enjoy a perfect record in the Champions League.

Die Roten are currently two points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the league having won seven of their opening nine games, including an 8-0 win against Darmstadt at the weekend, which included a second-half masterclass and a 50+ yard strike from new striker Harry Kane.

After arriving from Spurs in a deal worth around €95 million, the pressure to perform straight away was intensive, but the England captain has hit the ground running. Bayern’s new number nine has already scored 14 times in 13 games, and he’s also provided seven assists. It’s fair to say that Bayern are getting exactly what they paid for.

Kane’s performances have grabbed attention all over the world, including former Bayern star Miroslav Klose who singled out Kane and teammate Leroy Sane in a recent interview with TZ. The former German international made 98 appearances for Munich scoring 24 times. Klose enjoyed a productive career in Bavaria, but it was his international performances that often grabbed the headlines.

Klose remains Germany’s all-time top scorer, so he’s well-positioned to comment on England’s all-time top-scorer Harry Kane. Klose scored 71 goals in 137 appearances for the German national team and his 16 goals scored across four world cups remain a record for the competition.

The former Rheindorf Altach manager singled out the budding partnership between Kane and Sane for particular praise stating;

"“With Harry Kane, FC Bayern again has a striker who simply guarantees you goals. His shooting technique is outstanding. I like how hard and precise he strikes the ball with the inside of his foot. In addition, he’s combining very well with Leroy Sané, the two are looking for each other.”"

Sane has nine goals and three assists in 14 games, meaning that as a combination Kane/Sane have been responsible for 23 goals and 10 assists, which is a phenomenal return this early in the season. Thomas Tuchel had praised the attacking duo in the past for their strong understanding in the final third.

There is an argument to be made that Harry Kane and Leroy Sane are the best-attacking duo in world football right now.

The scary thought for the opposition is that Bayern are yet to hit top gear due to a number of injuries to their central defenders and central midfielders. They will now have to move forward without Joshua Kimmich after Bayern’s captain was shown a straight red card just four minutes into the game against Darmstadt.
