Jamal Musiala is back to his best for Bayern Munich in the past few games after a slow start to the campaign. The youngster was twice on the scoresheet against Darmstadt on Tuesday as Bayern extended their unbeaten start to the season.
Musiala has firmly established himself as a critical player for Die Roten and Germany in the past couple of years. The 20-year-old midfielder is the first choice number ten at Bayern ahead of the experienced Thomas Muller. The Bavarian club considers Musiala to be part of their long-term plans.
In the past couple of weeks, Musiala’s contract situation at Die Roten has been the subject of discussion in the German media. The youngster is in no rush to sign a new deal until the end of the season. His current deal at Bayern expires in 2026.
Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly keeping a close eye on Musiala’s situation at Bayern. The Premier League giants are willing to break the bank to get him if Bayern fails to extend his contract. Despite recent speculation, Bayern are not worried about the prospect of Musiala leaving the club. While talking to the media on Saturday (via AZ), Bayern president Herbert Hainer insisted that the club is relaxed about Musiala’s contract extension.
"“If other clubs are looking at Jamal Musiala, that doesn’t surprise us at all because he’s an outstanding player – he showed that again on Tuesday in Istanbul. He has a contract with us until 2026 and knows what he has at FC Bayern, he knows that all doors are open to him here. I would like to have him with us for a very long time. There’s no rush on either side.”"
The 20-year-old midfielder is already one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe. With further experience under his belt, Musiala is going to get even better. He can be part of Die Roten’s spine for the next decade.
Bayern consider Musiala pivotal to their long-term plans. They are expected to offer him a lucrative salary matching his status in the squad. The Bavarian club will definitely look to open contract talks with the midfielder in the coming months. Since Musiala has positively spoken about the club on several occasions, negotiations are unlikely to be complex unless an offer turns his head from the Premier League or another European giant.
For now, it does look like Jamal Musiala is happy at Bayern. The team is competing on all fronts, and he is playing a key role on the pitch. He is likely to get a big hike in wages in the new contract. Extending contract with Die Roten will help Musiala to tick every box that he wants to at this stage of his career.

The immediate priority for Die Roten will be extending the contract of Alphonso Davies. The young Canadian left-back’s contract expires in 2025. Real Madrid are interested in signing Davies, so Bayern need to sort out his extension sooner rather than later.
