Bayern Munich vs SV Darmstadt: Bundesliga Matchday 9 Preview
SV Darmstadt
Torsten Lieberknecht brings his exciting SV Darmstadt side to Allianz Arena on Saturday, sitting a respectable 12th in the Bundesliga Table. Lieberknecht’s first taste of the Bundesliga did not get off to the best of starts dropping points in their first three matches before finally getting a positive result against Borussia Monchengladbach.
Darmstadt followed their first point of the season with wins against Werder Bremen and Augsburg in their next four games. Saturday will give Lieberknecht and Darmstadt an opportunity to claim their biggest win to date while giving fans a game that is sure to provide plenty of shots and goals.
In goal, Marcel Schuhen will continue as the first-choice goalkeeper. The back three in front of Schuhen will be Austrian Christoph Klarer, Jannick Muller, and Stuttgart loanee Matej Maglica starting from right to left.
Matthias Bader will slot in the right wing-back position with summer signing Fabian Nurnberger starting opposite Bader as the left wing-back. Centrally, club captain Fabian Holland and 34-year-old veteran Tobias Kempe will seek to give Darmstadt a calming presence. Expect Marvin Mehlem to provide the creativity centrally and play a more advanced role behind the front two.
Stuttgart loanee Luca Pfeiffer will give the visitors an aerial presence and strength up top with his 6′ 5″ frame. This will allow Darmstadt to not only be a threat on set pieces, but also give the side an opportunity to hold up play. Tim Skarke should return to the starting lineup opposite Pfeiffer, having missed his side’s 3-1 loss to RB Leipzig last week.

Score Prediction
Bayern Munich 4-1 SV Darmstadt (Harry Kane x2, Sane, Muller)
Having watched Darmstadt a couple of times already this season, they are a team that is going to play their way no matter the result or opponent. They are a fun team to watch and look to play a pretty open match. I expect Bayern to create tons of good chances. Harry Kane will grab a brace, Sane will create and finish an opportunity for himself, and Muller will make the most of a rare start. Die Roten’s defense have struggled to keep clean sheets, so they are likely to concede a consolation goal on Saturday.
