Bayern Munich will resume Champions League campaign on Tuesday after the second international break of the campaign. The Bavarian club will face Galatasaray in Turkey on matchday three of the European competition. Bayern have won their two group games this season.

Die Roten had to work hard for victories in each of their two group games. They clinched 4-3 and 2-1 wins against Manchester United and FC Copenhagen, respectively. The away trip to Galatasaray will be a daunting challenge for the team. By clinching a win on Tuesday, Bayern will have one foot in the round of 16. Let us look at the team news and possible starting XI Tuchel will use against Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Team News

Leon Goretzka was not part of the travelling squad on Monday after he suffered an injury to his hand against Mainz. The German midfielder is set to be out for a couple of weeks after undergoing surgery on Sunday. Manuel Neuer has been training with the squad, but the game against Galatasaray comes too soon for him. He is set to make his long-awaited return to the starting lineup in the Bundesliga against Darmstadt on Saturday.

Serge Gnabry has been training on the pitch at Sabner Strasse, but he is not yet completely fit to be part of the squad. The German winger will most likely return to the squad next week. Raphael Guerreiro and Dayot Upamecano are also ruled out for the game against Galatasaray due to injuries.

Predicted Starting XI

Sven Ulreich came up with a big save against Mainz on the weekend to help Die Roten claim all three points. The game against Galatasaray could be Ulreich’s last start for some time since Neuer is set to return against Darmstadt. He has done a fine job as number one this season. Ulreich will look to round off the run of starts with a clean sheet on Tuesday.

The selection in central defense for Bayern is straightforward due to the absence of Dayot Upamecano. Matthijs de Ligt and Kim Min-jae will start in the heart of defense in Turkey, while Alphonso Davies will slot in the left-back position. Noussair Mazraoui has recovered from a minor injury, so he is expected to start on the right side of the defense.

The injury to Goretzka allows Konrad Laimer to move back into the midfield. The Austrian midfielder will start alongside Joshua Kimmich on Tuesday.  Jamal Musiala will play ahead of the midfield pivot in the attacking midfield role.

Leroy Sane was disappointed after getting substituted late in the game against Mainz. The German winger will look to make up for the disappointment on the weekend by scoring against Galatasaray. Sane will start on the left flank, while Kingsley Coman will play on the right. Harry Kane will lead the line for the visitors.
