Bayern Munich have been one of the best teams in Europe this season when it comes to their goalscoring prowess. Harry Kane has hit the ground running for Bayern after joining from Tottenham Hotspur in August. The English striker has scored nine goals this season across all competitions.

While Kane has been the prolific goal-scorer for Die Roten, Mathys Tel has the best goals-to-minute ratio this season. The French forward has been the go-to player for Thomas Tuchel whenever he has needed goals in the second halves of games this season.

Tel has scored five goals in 159 minutes for Bayern across all competitions. The French forward has come up with crucial goals that have tilted the outcome of the game towards Rekordmeister, which includes winners against Manchester United and Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 18-year-old forward’s impressive form at Bayern has earned him a first call-up to France’s U-21 squad. Along with his exploits in the final third, Tel has been impressing teammates with his mentality in training. While talking to the media during the international break (via iMiaSanMia), Kingsley Coman admitted that Tel has the right mentality to become one of the best forwards in the world.

"“Tel has made fantastic progress since he joined the club. We can see the difference in training, that he is really progressing every day and gaining maturity. He’s done great things for us this season and won us so many points with little game time.”“But beyond the goals, the dynamic he has when he comes in, his mentality to work every day without ever complaining, to do everything for the team, it’s something that I admire and appreciate. We don’t often see that in young players. If he continues this way, I think he will reach the top.”"

Mathys Tel was heavily linked with a loan move away from Bayern in the summer. Since the Bavarian club was signing Kane, there were chances of Tel getting very little game time. Augsburg and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly showed interest in the French forward during the summer transfer window.

Despite interest from several clubs, Tel wanted to stay at Die Roten even if he was not getting adequate playing time. The French forward believed that training with world-class players at Bayern would definitely aid his development. He is currently learning from one of the best strikers in the world.

Thomas Tuchel has also been impressed with the growth shown by Tel in limited game time this season. The German coach is expecting Tel to get even better as the season progresses. Die Roten should keep using Tel as a substitute since it will help in managing his workload without affecting the team’s objectives.

Tel will look to end up scoring 10 to 15 goals for Bayern across all competitions this season. A good campaign may help him to get a place in the French squad for next summer’s Euros. Thierry Henry may like to keep him in the U-21 squad, but impressive performances at Bayern will certainly catch Didier Deschamps for the senior team.
